Keyboard

The Keyboard Program at VISIBLE SCHOOL is designed to assist the student in progressing in keyboard technique and performance for various settings ranging from traditional/contemporary worship to the concert stage, from solo venues to bands, and for further study at the graduate level. After completing the Keyboard Program, students should be proficient in a number of musical genres including: rock, pop, blues, jazz, and classical. In addition, VISIBLE SCHOOL keyboard majors should have proficiency in keyboard technology to better prepare them for the music industry today and the rate at which technology is being used in both the studio and live performances.

Keyboard lessons are off to a great start and all the keyboard students are currently going through the ensemble audition process. Basically, all of the Modern Music Ministry students are placed into bands at the beginning of each year. Each student fills out a survey on the style of music they enjoy listening to and playing. That's where the faculty starts for placement and for 4 weeks band members are rotated in and out until we have a perfect fit. So we are in our second week of rotations and the keyboard players are rocking face! There has already been some awesome blues organ solos and really cool effects. This is going to be a great year!

A first year Visible School student just recently performed the James Bond Theme song as their performance piece from their private lessons. Because we like to have a little fun around here...she took the liberty of asking another student to dress up in a suit and come out on stage and play the part of James Bond. He proceeded to put on his backpack (parachute of course) and leap off the stage as the keyboard student was ending her piece and he whisked her away. So who said keyboard recitals can't be fun?!
